Today we head to the birthplace of Richard E. Grant. Maybe the “E” stands for Eswatini? Honestly though, I’ve never heard of Eswatini before. That’s because it’s the most newly named country in Africa. Up until 2018 Eswatini was known as Swaziland.
Eswatini is a small land-locked country sandwiched between Mozambique and South Africa. In fact, Eswatini is so small, it’s actually the smallest country in the Southern hemisphere.
Eswatini has the highest prevalence of HIV with around 26% of the population being HIV positive. Estwatini also has one of the world’s lowest life expectancy at under 58.
Eswatini is known for it’s abundance of well-preserved national parks and wildlife as well as it’s all-powerful monarch King Mswati III. He reigns alongside his mother and has a close-knit family of 15 wives and 23 children.
